You must wear appropriate footwear - no thongs, bare feet, clogs
(shoes with soles thicker than 3cm) or shoes without heel support.

实际情况下取决于警察心情

在Australian Road Rules part 16 没有要求footwear...

Queensland: OK
Western Australia: responsibility for the driver to have full control of the vehicle (Regulation 263)
Northern Territory: OK
ACT: maybe considered by Police Australian Road Rules (Rule 297) state in part "...A driver must not drive a vehicle unless the driver has proper control of the vehicle.

你喜欢就得了，不要被抓到，就万事大吉。

人字拖开车有点难过，通常穿人字拖的时候，我就干脆脱了赤脚开~但是脚底板弄好脏~
