The Government announced the First Home Owner Boost would be extended until the end of the year, but would be halved from the beginning of October - although the existing First Home Owner's Grant will remain unchanged at $7000.
The FHOB scheme - designed as an additional stimulus payment on top of the grant - will continue to provide buyers with $14,000 for new homes and $7000 for existing homes until the end of September.
From October 1 until the end of 2009, the boost will provide an extra $3500 for existing homes and $7000 for new homes.
When combined with the First Home Owner's Grant, first-time buyers of existing homes will be given $10,500 and new home buyers $14,000.
